Birthday Month!

For my 30th birthday, I decided to celebrate it for the entire month of November.   Since I've reached this milestone in my life, why not spread out the celebration?  Here are highlights of my birthday month: Cake, Cake, Cake My coworker got me this lovely Guava Cake from Andrea's World of Cakes , thank you Fran! Hawaii Trip '16 My family and I were in Hawaii for a bit.  Being there for my birthday was not the primary reason though :p We had this 'ono (delicious) and authentic Hawaiian meal from Waiahole Poi Factory : Don't forget the chili water and Shoyu! There's been many poke bowl shops poppin' up in Vegas.  But none yet that I've been to can beat the OG poke bowls from Hawaii!  Pictured here are poke bowls with simply marinated raw fish and rice.  We also had some sashimi and musubis from Foodland Farms : Li Hing Mui Frost from Frostcity :                   Th...

Sushi Garden

I live in Los Angeles, CA, but am from and travel to Tucson, AZ A LOT! There are so many amazing options to write about!  I have to admit, I am a sushi addict. When I travel to T-Town, like the locals call it, I have to get my sushi fix at my favorite spot,  Sushi Garden  on La Cholla Blvd.  While there are many great sushi options in Tucson, I have to give it up to Sushi Garden: All You Can Eat Sushi $21.95 per person,  $12.95 kids 11 years and younger. Very decent prices, FRESH food! Crab Sunomono drizzled with a light dressing.  Great appetizer to start with. The New Orleans Roll is one of Sushi Garden's most popular menu items. Deep fried crawfish in a spicy sauce, cucumber & avocado topped with masago .  So Crispy! The Captain Crunch Roll. Stuffed with house crab-puff filling (cream cheese, crab, jalapeño and green onion), crab, avocado, panko fried, served with sesame chili sauce.  Delicious...

Cornish Pasty Co.

The Commercial Center District , near The Strip, contains shops and great restaurants, like  Cornish Pasty Co. !  This place specializes in making pasties , which are baked pastries typically with meat and vegetables as the fillings.  They're basically like "British hot pockets," but bigger, more flavorful, and comes in an assortment of fillings. The bar area: Happy Hour every day:  If you look at the  menu , there are three categories of pasties - Signature, Vegetarian & Vegan, and Premium.  I counted 37 total pasties on the menu, so for sure you'll find one that'll suit your palate!  I tried the Cottage Pie - contains seasoned ground beef, pea, carrots, grilled onions, mashed potatoes, and cheddar with a side of red wine gravy.  This was a very hearty meal, definitely something best to eat after a hard day's work or have as a hangover meal - it can go either way!  I was already full eating the first half,...

Rose. Rabbit. Lie.

Rose. Rabbit. Lie  at The Cosmopolitan is one of the most interesting places I've been to on  The Strip .  I feel like I've fallen down the rabbit hole like Alice and somehow landed at this restaurant!  Rose. Rabbit. Lie. has multiple rooms that has a bar, speakeasy (separate drink menu from the bar), and has a show called Vegas Nocturne that plays at three different times throughout the night w/ different prices per time slot.  We opted to just dine in and will watch the show at another time.  Just eating at the dining room was great experience for me and my group! The lovely dining room- I love how detailed everything was from the silverware, menu, and to the art: Rose. Rabbit. Lie. has a creative drink menu.  The drinks on the top are  Chrysanthemum and   Mark Twain .  At the bottom is  Floradora Imperial  and Vivante Water - Earth friendly water: This restaurant serves tapa style dishes, I was impres...

First Year Wedding Anniversary @ Bellagio

For me and my husband's first year wedding anniversary, we spent the day at one of my favorite hotel/casinos on the Strip , the Bellagio .  All we did was eat, drink, and be tourists all day! Yellowtail First we went to the Taste of the Town , Sushi & Sake Reception at Yellowtail .  We got to sample different kinds of drinks and Japanese foods :  There was a copious amount of sake  over  food , so it was hard to choose which were my favorites: I enjoyed from learning a lot from the people who served all these drinks because they were quite informative about each of them.  It reminded me that the science and art into making each alcoholic beverage are remarkable. Picasso For dinner we ate at French food at  Picasso  and had a lovely view of the Fountains of Bellagio : Prix fixe menu: Crème of Roasted Butternut Squash - this was a nice creamy soup to start off the meal: I chose t...
