Stockholm Trip '17

Over a month ago, my husband and I embarked on our first trip to Europe!!! We were there for a couple weeks and spent our time exploring the capital cities of Norway, Denmark, and Sweden.  The two things I found most captivating was the art, especially the architecture, and the food!  Our trip started in Oslo, Norway and Copenhagen, Denmark (check out the links at the end of the post for more details) and ended our Euro trip in Stockholm, Sweden: AB Café Never in my whole life did I eat pastries and drink coffee every morning until I arrived in Europe! A lot of pastries I had were hearty which left me wanting to have at least one daily.  In the neighborhood near where we were staying at was  AB Café .  This is a small, cozy cafe where you can have a small bite to eat and drink before you start your day.  Pictured below is their Key Lime Sandwich, latte, and a bullar (sweet bun).  It was a nice fika ! Fat Boy

On my cheat day I ate at Fat Boy located on 4425 Stewart St Suite 107 (corner of Stewart St & Lamb Blvd).  It's a small fast food joint that serves hamburgers, pizzas, burritos, salads, smoothies (their syrups are homemade), milkshakes, and Mexican food : Chencho Fries - a Fat Boy favorite!  These fries are topped with salsa verde , grilled onions, chopped chicken, and melted cheese: Pastrami Boyger - beef patty topped with pastrami , mustard, grilled onions, pickles and mayo.  If you need a serious protein fix, this "boyger" is for you: Fat Boy makes their meat patties daily and are never frozen.  Toppings and vegetables are prepared as needed, and buns are delivered to the restaurant fresh daily.  If you're feeling gluttonous, check out Fat Boy!

Taste America: Las Vegas

Last weekend I attended the  James Beard Foundation's   Taste America: Las Vegas  at  The Mirage Hotel & Casino .  It was a lovely evening at this poolside gala trying out different foods and drinks.  Check out my previous post for more info.  It was great seeing the cooks and executive chefs prepare and make foods from each of their stands: There was also a silent auction on one side and food and drinks  everywhere else! One of the stands from  Ristorante di Mare .  Executive Chef, Paul Barolotta . This ristorante specializes in Mediterranean seafood.  There were many drinks to sample including drinks from   Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada . These oysters were from GOIC  - the Gulf of Mexico.  They were fresh indeed! BLT Burger .  Executive Chef, Laurent Tourondel . From BLT Burger I had the 180 Burger - Peppercorn crusted bacon, smokey sweet BBQ sauce, ...

Pioneer Saloon

If you're interested in exploring other parts of Nevada or just want to get away from Las Vegas,  Pioneer Saloon  in Goodsprings is the place to visit!  This saloon was built back in 1913 and is full of history : Gate to the outdoor dining area Just walk on over to the general store next to the saloon and order your food. I got the Alaskan Salmon Burger.   The patty was grilled just right!  It came with addicting kettle chips and I got to choose my toppings.  The owner recommended me to try the ghost chili sauce with my burger.  I was hesitant to get it because I can't handle very spicy foods, but he assured me it wasn't that spicy... He was right, the sauce went great with my burger! Outlaw Chicken Nachos If you want to cook your own food instead you can rent a grill and they'll supply the food! Fire pit Loaded Gun Baked Potato-  I was still hungry and got this HUGE baked potato, I think the owner was...
