Cheer Up With Food

Last June my fiance and I went to the SF Bay Area for a day and a half... to eat!  Well that was just one of the reasons for our short trip.  Since it was his first time visiting there, I wanted him to try as much foods as he could and we succeeded! The night we arrived, we came to this phở place, Pho Huong in San Jose. This restaurant was one of the few late night joints in town.  I remember the broth was excellent (it was not too salty, I know I say that a lot in my posts haha)! And I was glad to see they had a phở dish that only came with vegetables (for my fiance): Shrimp spring rolls I was so craving for beef.. The next morning before we headed out to San Francisco, we had brunch at Falafel's Drive - In .  We all got this special that included a falafel with a banana shake.  I loved this special!  For the first time ever the falafel was the best I've had! This was my favorite leftover cake from Jean Philippe Patisserie in Aria .  This lovely cake was chocolately smooth and moist, and filled with lots of nuts.  I will never forget this cake! To see my first Jean-Philippe Patisserie post, click here .

When my friend invited me to a chocolate & wine party that she was going to host, I for sure wanted to go!  I always learn something new about wine whenever I see her :-) At the beginning of the party, we got skewers to pick strawberries, bananas, brownies, or  blondies  (cookies) to dip in the chocolate fondue : We each had a wine marker... Mine looked like a blue Casper ! Here's some of the wine we sampled from- We tried  cabernet sauvignon , which is a red, bold wine (it was too bold for me).  The first brand we drank was Rex Goliath : My friend told us about a simple technique when drinking a wine, you suck in a little air to oxygenate the drink thats in your mouth so you can taste the flavor of the wine more instead of tasting the alcohol!  The next cabernet we tried was Cruz Alta Reserve .  I drank this wine first without oxygenating it, and it tasted like a Sharpie permanent marker o_o.  Second time I sipped the dr...

If you visit the Bellagio, go to Jean-Philippe Pâtisserie to see and eat lovely chocolates, pastries, gelato, sandwiches and more! So far I've tried their gelato, which was scrumptious! They also have the world's largest chocolate fountain, you'll get a sweet tooth just by looking at it! Also, the engineering used into making this fountain amazes me! http://www.jpchocolates.com/
