Birthday Month!

For my 30th birthday, I decided to celebrate it for the entire month of November.   Since I've reached this milestone in my life, why not spread out the celebration?  Here are highlights of my birthday month: Cake, Cake, Cake My coworker got me this lovely Guava Cake from Andrea's World of Cakes , thank you Fran! Hawaiian Style Poke

After a week back home in Las Vegas I still longed for the food back in Hawaii.  Luckily when my husband and I were in Chinatown, I saw the shop  Hawaiian Style Poke .  We had to go there to cure my blues!  As you can see from my photo they make a variety of poke  (poʊˈkeɪ): Modern poke is a raw salad mainly consisting of cubed ahi (yellowfin tuna), soy sauce, sesame oil, limu seaweed, other Asian influenced condiments, etc.  Other varieties of poke include tako (octopus), other types of raw fish, sliced Maui onions, and many more!  Poke is great to eat with rice or poi .  So if ever you need your 'poke fix', come to Hawaiian Style Poke!

My uncle had the Fried Chicken & Waffle .  This picture makes the food smaller than it seems, I was impressed by the portion size, I didn't know pieces of chicken could be  that big (all thanks to genetic modification)!  My meal, the Mini Breakfast Special  was smaller compared to everyone else's.  For this special you get to choose 1) how you want your eggs cooked 2) choose pancakes, toast, fries or rice and 3) ...

Yard House Delights

On my 3241st visit to Yard House with Nessa, we shared this awesome Moo Shu Egg Rolls filled with chicken, chili cream cheese, carrots, green onions and spinach served with apple ginger plum sauce! This is the Hawaiian Poke Stack (one of the usual appetizers I get!), its marinated fresh ahi tuna stacked with crispy wontons, carrots, bean sprouts, avocado, and wasabi soy sauce:
