IS SWEET

My girlfriends and I recently checked out IS SWEET, a cute little shop that sells desserts, coffee, and tea located in Chinatown Las Vegas.  It was easy for me to choose what drink I wanted - a hot Dark Chocolate Milk Tea (great to drink while the weather is cold!), but when it came to choosing a dessert I was a bit overwhelmed!  There were different flavors of crepe cakes to pick from, and a list of toppings, sauce toppings, and ice cream to add on a honey toast or waffle.  Since I was sharing desserts with my friends, I wasn't too picky with the flavors we chose.

We ate the Matcha Crepe Cake - the matcha flavor was definitely there and I liked how creamy layers stuck well together with every bite.  Other crepe cake flavors available are Red Velvet and Vanilla.

I enjoyed our honey toast!  We customized it to be simply topped with vanilla ice cream, almonds, and condensed milk

If you have a big sweet tooth, come check out IS SWEET ;)  I recommend ordering the desserts I had.  I bet you'll be overwhelmed as well when it comes to customizing them!   Also upon entering, check out the chalkboard for any deals IS SWEET may have.

Fat Boy

On my cheat day I ate at Fat Boy located on 4425 Stewart St Suite 107 (corner of Stewart St & Lamb Blvd).  It's a small fast food joint that serves hamburgers, pizzas, burritos, salads, smoothies (their syrups are homemade), milkshakes, and Mexican food:

Chencho Fries- a Fat Boy favorite!  These fries are topped with salsa verde, grilled onions, chopped chicken, and melted cheese:

Pastrami Boyger- beef patty topped with pastrami, mustard, grilled onions, pickles and mayo.  If you need a serious protein fix, this "boyger" is for you:

Fat Boy makes their meat patties daily and are never frozen.  Toppings and vegetables are prepared as needed, and buns are delivered to the restaurant fresh daily.  If you're feeling gluttonous, check out Fat Boy!

Stockholm Trip '17

Over a month ago, my husband and I embarked on our first trip to Europe!!! We were there for a couple weeks and spent our time exploring the capital cities of Norway, Denmark, and Sweden.  The two things I found most captivating was the art, especially the architecture, and the food!  Our trip started in Oslo, Norway and Copenhagen, Denmark (check out the links at the end of the post for more details) and ended our Euro trip in Stockholm, Sweden:

AB Café Never in my whole life did I eat pastries and drink coffee every morning until I arrived in Europe! A lot of pastries I had were hearty which left me wanting to have at least one daily.  In the neighborhood near where we were staying at was AB Café.  This is a small, cozy cafe where you can have a small bite to eat and drink before you start your day.  Pictured below is their Key Lime Sandwich, latte, and a bullar (sweet bun).  It was a nice fika!

Japan Trip '16: Sushi Bar Yasuda

I had to save my best dining experience in Japan for last at Sushi Bar Yasuda!  When my husband and I entered the small, intimate restaurant, we saw Chef Yasuda standing alone at the bar.  He had no facial expression (maybe he was getting into the zone?).  As everyone sat down, he was preparing our foods and began talking to us in a calm, friendly manner.
As the night progressed, we all were having interesting conversations with Chef Yasuda from his life back in New York (he was the former owner of Sushi Yasuda), sushi making techniques (and secrets!), him getting to know a bit about his patrons, and so on. I had told him that we were from Las Vegas, NV and he made fun of how it was impossible to get great sushi to the desert.  Well, after eating my omakase meal, I would have to agree with him!

Now onto the food, if you haven't recognized him yet, Chef Naomichi Yasuda is featured in CNN's Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown episode in Tokyo, Japan.  If you've seen this epis…
