Merkato Ethiopian Cafe

My fiancé and I were craving to try a cuisine that we've never ate before and later agreed to eat Ethiopian food!  We've read great reviews about  Merkato  Ethiopian Cafe and decided to check it out ourselves.   The staff was very kind to us and shared interesting info about  Ethiopian  cuisine.  On the top left of this photo are rolled pieces of sourdough/crepe like bread called injera .  Ethiopians eat this bread with everything.  Injera's flour is made of teff , a grain thats only grown in Ethiopia.  Even though injera's taste is similar to sourdough bread, the teff gave quite a uniqueness to it.  We shared this huge platter (tip- one entrée can feed two).  Neither of us asked what the items were on here called, but I recognized some lentils, salad, collards, and split peas: Vegetarian Combo - Amazing After we ate we saw one of the workers prepare for a traditional coffee ceremony .  We were so intrigued that we couldn't stop watching!  This ceremony basic

Beer Wars

Another great movie I've seen is Beers Wars .  This documentary film is all about small craft beer breweries  and how mass marketed beer corporations (Budweiser, Coors, Miller) will do anything to stay on top of the market. Movie trailer:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uY-Bg5Odi0M

Hippocrates

Everyone has a doctor in him or her; we just have to help it in its work. The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well. Our food should be our medicine. Our medicine should be our food. But to eat when you are sick, is to feed your sickness. Hippocrates Greek physician (460 BC - 377 BC)

Eat Pray Love

Eat Pray Love - a great movie with great food shots and a wonderful story line!   This is one of my favorite movies now, not just because of the foods :)

Stephano's

If you're craving Greek/Mediterranean food, come to Stephano's ! I had come here for lunch with my Mom who really wanted to eat this cuisine rather than the usual food she's eats when she's out with my Dad, who's not an adventurous eater. While I was waiting in line to order, I saw huge hunks of meats being slowly cooked on rotating metal rods (?).  I couldn't stop looking at them, you don't see that everyday! Out of the items to choose from the menu, the one that caught my attention was the Rib Eye Steak Kebab .  I missed steak and had to have it!  Don't be deceived by this picture, the food may look small (unless you zoom in), but I was actually stuffed.  This item and others mostly come with basmati rice , hummus , pita bread, and an Israeli salad  (diced tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, parsley, dressed with olive oil and lemon juice): She wanted me to take a picture of her eating haha:

My Dad's Birthday Lunch

The Crispy Chicken from Sam Woo BBQ is my Dad's favorite dish: My Mom's favorite, House Special Chow Mein : 57!

Pizza Place

A casual dining place in the  Wynn  that I liked was Pizza Place .  This isn't your typical pizza joint because the quality of thier food and drinks are superb! Cafe Latte - It was very smooth and frothy until the very end. A sliced piece of a  Risotto Stick - The risotto was creamy.. I'd rather eat this than a mozaralla stick! Slice from a 22" thin Cheese Pizza -   Greasy goodness!

Last Meal of the Semester

This past semester I had my clinical rotation at Health South Tenaya .  Since it was me and my classmates' last week there, we got free lunches!  I never had so much food to choose from a hospital before: Top: French onion soup , muffin, and fruits Bottom: salad, quiche , roasted tomatoes, and squash My classmate enjoying her meal An awesome shortcake
