Cheer Up With Food

Last February I travelled to Berkeley , CA for a few days.  I was lucky to arrive on a weekend where it was pouring with rain!  Even though I didn't go to a lot of places due to the weather, I'm still glad I got to eat at these restaurants:  Suya African-Caribbean Grill On my first day, my tour guides, Emily and Tammy, recommended that I try  Suya  for lunch.  There's not much African-Caribbean restaurants from my hometown, so I gladly wanted to check out Suya: We all got a combination meal.  I chose to the Tilapia Fish with flatbread, grilled plantain, and grilled corn.  The fish was lightly flavored to me, yet it was distinct.  The sauce and grilled sides were nice add-ons to the meal: Emily got the Grilled Beef on a skewer with grilled corn and rice: Tammy got the Grilled Chicken on a skewer with the same sides I got: All these meats and fish were seasoned with Suya Pepper, a distinctive custom spice m...

After an intense week of schooling, I've been going to  Settebello  for Happy Hour.  I feel like I deserve to eat a delizioso pizza, appetizer, and dessert for all the studying I've been doing! For now, this will be the closest for me to eating an Italian pizza - A Margherita Pizza  with crushed tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, parmigiano reggiano, extra virgin olive oil, and mushroom (our choice of topping).  Eating this pizza cannot be compared to a chain pizza place, never! Appetizers off the happy hour menu are currently $5.  I don't remember what this dish was but I know it mainly was prosciutto  drizzled with extra virgin olive oil.  I rarely eat this kind of meat so I was excited to see this on the menu! After walking along Manhattan Beach, we went to get some ice cream from Manhattan Beach Creamery. I love this place because they had a lot of homemade ice cream, desserts, and candies. You could spend like an hour looking at all the delights they have! I sampled some of their original ice creams and thought that the Red Velvet Ice Cream was a unique one - it had bits of red velvet cake in it... They should make an ice cream sandwich of that flavor! I decided to get the Coconut Ice Cream. I missed that flavor and I was feeling tropical that day!

JAPANESE FOOD I officially kicked off my summer on the 1st week of May by eating at Yama Sushi for the 30th+ time haha... My sushi partners were Iza and Nessa. I think we ordered about 11 rolls, which was a lot for our tummies! Ready to eat with the chopsticks! My dining partners A lot of spicy tuna on top yumm Mochi ice cream to the left and green tea ice cream to the right I ate at Yama Sushi AGAIN the other night with Inna, Wendell and their relatives. I had the best service I ever had from them! Maybe because we had this awesome waitress who I've never seen before serve us and I guess they made our sushi fast because our party was big. I love the quality of food served here in Yama Sushi.  I tend to compare the difference in the fish quality of another restaurant to Yama.  Some special rolls I recommend is the Screaming Orgasm (it really melts in your mouth), if you enjoy the taste of garlic try the Harry Potter Roll , and ...
