Bay Area Trip '16

Last January my husband and I went on a weekend trip to the Bay area.  When we got off the plane we were starving (as usual)!  Our friends had made a list of recommended restaurants that we should try.  So when I was looking down the list, I wanted to eat somewhere where I know we'd get full for sure.   Korean BBQ at Gogi Time was the first place I chose to satisfy our bellies. Gogi Time We came to this restaurant late at night on a weekday and it was busy- a good sign that this place was legit!  If you're not familiar with eating Korean BBQ, you get banchan   (side dishes) first to eat and share with your fellow diners.  These small dishes are usually replenished throughout your whole meal: The side dishes surrounding the grill and some vegetables that we ordered as part of our main course Some of the main dishes we ordered for us to grill: Marinated beef and chicken We didn't take much photos because we were that hungr...

Flock & Fowl

If you're in the mood to eat a chicken dish, I highly recommend checking out  Flock & Fowl .  This restaurant specializes in making Hainanese Chicken Rice .  It's a simple dish consisting of poached organic, free range chicken with marinated cucumbers and preserved mustard greens as seen in the photo below.  You may dip the chicken in ginger scallion sauce, house made  sambal  (chile), and house made soy sauce for more flavor/kick (not pictured).  Also, the sides to choose from are organic egg, Chinese sausage ( lap cheung ), chicken broth, or more chicken rice: Flock & Fowl's Hainanese Chicken Rice with a side of organic egg- The chicken was tender and juicy!  If you're into lightly salted meats or just looking out for your blood pressure, I recommend this dish. On the day we dined there, the Chicken & Poached Egg Congee was the special dish of the day.   Congee   is a rice porridge that's common througho...

Grind Burger Bar & Lounge

My husband and I were in search of somewhere to eat lunch nearby  McCarran Airport .  That was when we stumbled upon  Grind Burger Bar & Lounge  next to BlueGreen Club 36 .  Upon looking at their menu, we saw that any hamburger could be customized to one's own liking.  We had to pencil in the bubble next to the item that we wanted: Juicy Lucy Adult milkshakes- I'll try them next time! I decided to get the Premium Chicken Breast burger with lettuce, tomato, raw onion, and Roasted Garlic Mayonaise.  Four toppings are included with the burger of your choice, any additional topping is 75 cents each such as pickles, grilled mushrooms, and Buffalo Style Hot Sauce.  There's also premium toppings for $1.50 such as Nueske Bacon and Ajvar .  My husband and I shared the Tall & Thin Fries - my weakness! If you're looking to eat a top quality burger, I recommend eating here!  I hope you'll enjoy this place as much ...

Cheesecake Factory

The Cheesecake Factory is one of my favorite restaurant chains ever! The reason why I adore this place is that they serve foods from different parts of the US and ethnic foods. I  l o v e  the quality of the ingredients used in their foods. For our appetizer we tried the Vietnamese Spring Rolls - made with rice paper rolled around asparagus, Shiitake mushrooms, carrots, rice noodles, green onion, cilantro and shrimp: My meal was The Incredible Grilled Eggplant Sandwich - comes with roasted red peppers, red onion, melted Mozzarella and garlic aioli on a toasted bun. The name did fit my meal: Mikey had the Orange Chicken - deep fried pieces of chicken breast covered in a sweet and spicy orange sauce with white rice and vegetables: Bronsen had Garlic Noodles - made with spaghettini, shrimp, asparagus, Shiitake mushrooms, tomatoes, and parmesan in garlic sauce: Last and not least, we got cheesecakes! To the left is Adam's Peanut Butter Cup Fudge Ripple - creamy c...
