Cheer Up With Food

Last January my husband and I went on a weekend trip to the Bay area.  When we got off the plane we were starving (as usual)!  Our friends had made a list of recommended restaurants that we should try.  So when I was looking down the list, I wanted to eat somewhere where I know we'd get full for sure.   Korean BBQ at Gogi Time was the first place I chose to satisfy our bellies. My girlfriends and I recently checked out IS SWEET, a cute little shop that sells desserts, coffee, and tea located in Chinatown Las Vegas .  It was easy for me to choose what drink I wanted - a hot Dark Chocolate Milk Tea (great to drink while the weather is cold!), but when it came to choosing a dessert I was a bit overwhelmed!  There were different flavors of crepe cakes to pick from, and a list of toppings, sauce toppings, and ice cream to add on a honey toast or waffle.  Since I was sharing desserts with my friends, I wasn't too picky with the flavors we chose. Two hot milk teas - Hot Matcha and Dark Chocolate We ate the  Matcha  Crepe Cake - the matcha flavor was definitely there and I liked how creamy layers stuck well together with every bite.  Other crepe cake flavors available are Red Velvet and Vanilla.  If you're originally from Hawaii now living in Las Vegas aka  da 9th island , you must be every now and then get homesick.  Since I've met many people from Hawaii over the past 10 years, they talk about missing the ocean, going to the beach, loved ones they've left behind, and eating local Hawaiian food on a daily basis.  Being that said, I always ask my friends from Hawaii what are good restaurants to eat at since they are more of the experts! My friends have recommended  Island Flavor , a Hawaiian restaurant located along Durango Rd near Windmill Ln.  They serve huge portions of Hawaiian comfort food and just dining there makes you feel like you're in Hawaii.
