Julian Serrano @ Aria

For a ladies' date with my friend, we went to  Julian Serrano  at the Aria  to try some Spanish Tapas : A lovely set up Saute Mushrooms - Hedge hog mushrooms, tomato confit, and garlic demi.  These mushrooms had a really meaty texture, can't believe they were mushrooms! Brava Potatoes- These crisp potatoes were quite addicting. Vegan  Gazpacho - A Spanish chilled tomato-based soup.  Before I ate the soup, I was instructed to eat that gazpacho ball on the spoon. Right when I ate that ball, it felt like a yolk exploded in my mouth... The reaction on my face amused my friend and our server haha. I liked it, I just didn't expect that explosion! Mediterranean Bass - with donostiarra sauce, tomato confit, arbol chili, and garlic.  Churros - To be honest I was a bit reluctant to try overpriced churros. I guess I'm just used to churros for $1 or $2 at a carnival or theme park. Our waiter convinced us to try it and ...

Island Malaysian Cuisine

It's been a long time since I've had Malaysian food so I chose to go to Island Malaysian Cuisine along Spring Mountain Rd.  When my fiancé and I got our appetizer and dishes we instantly could tell that this cuisine was influenced by Indian cuisine : Our appetizer Roti canai with Curry Broth.   This Indian-influenced flat bread was very thin, moist, flaky on some parts, and slightly sweet. The curry broth served as a dip which simply made this pair great! Pineapple Shrimp  served on a pineapple. The dish consisted of shrimp, slices of pineapple, onion, bell pepper, etc, and covered with curry.  Vegetable Curry came to us boiling and sizzling in a hot pot. The vegetables included were eggplant, long beans, okra, cabbage, and tomatoes. We also noticed from the last dish how much Malaysian food influences Filipino food by the mixture of foods used.  The Vegetable Curry reminded me of Sinigang (one of my favorite Filipino d...

Kabuki Dining Bar

Kabuki Dining Bar  located on Maryland Pkwy. & Flamingo Rd. is the place to go to for fine quality Japanese food.  I love this place so much that I came here four times in one month! Kabuki is a great place, but is situated at a horrible location because it's blocked by a small building in the Target shopping center.  I just find it unfortunate that this restaurant is hidden! Anyways back to the food, they serve authentic Japanese dishes and All-You-Can-Eat Sushi: Nami Chirashi  Bowl Daisuki Roll- this wonderful roll is named after a sushi chef who works there St. George Roll - my favorite eel roll! Garlic Tuna Nigiri Green Tea Panna Cotta - a cooked cream  dessert with green tea powder FYI: If you click on the restaurant's link on top (the first link), the menu is currently not updated.

Marssa

For Valentine's Day, my Valentine surprised me by bringing me to  Marssa .  I had told him I wanted to eat anywhere that had fusion cuisine, I didn't expect him to bring me to a restaurant in Lake Las Vegas! :D The Valentine Menu 2012 - We got the same dishes except for the third course Salmon Mango Cerviche-  The salmon, mango, onions, and flower (it was edible) was delectable. Lobster Salad- The arugala  went well with the tender lobster meat yummm. Crab Cakes- I wish the crab cakes were BIGGER, they were amazingly good!  I miss them dearly. Mu Shu Duck- Duck with a thin Asian pancake and huckleberry sauce. Sashimi- Fine quality tuna, salmon, Yellow tail, and white fish. Sushi Mix- Our entree! I recommend trying the Crunchy Eel, Tiger,  and Surf and Kobe Roll   Marssa's Special Selection- That chocolate fudge dessert on the right was intensely rich! I never imagined chocolate being that bol...

South Point Gourmet Food Truck Fest

Earlier this month I went to the  South Point Gourmet Food Truck Fest .  Non-food wise, the lot where this food truck fest was located at was s p a c i o u s, I loved it!  There were twenty food trucks there (many of them were from California).  The lucky food trucks I tried foods from were Calbi  Fusion Tacos|Burritos, Pie 'n Burger , Longboards Ice Cream , Ludo Truck , and  Nom Nom Truck . @ Calbi - This food truck sells Korean BBQ style tacos, burritos, and quesadillas aka "KoMex" food.  Being an adventurous eater, I tried the Kim Chee Quesadillas with a house dipping sauce on the side.  Never would I think of combining kim chee , cheese, and a tortilla  together!  The quesadillas were quite pleasant.  I only wish that the quesadillas or the sauce had more spices added to them: Front-  Tofu Tacos,  Back- Kim Chee Quesadillas @ Pie 'n Burger - I got a pie, but also got a hot dog instead of a burger....

Filfila Mediterranean Cafe

Upon entering  Filfila Mediterranean Cafe  I was intrigued by the decoration on the walls because there was cultural art everywhere.  I noticed small banners that had King Tut on them, wall paper that had ancient Egyptian art on them, and this beautiful painting of this lady standing by a river - it had to be the Nile .  At that moment I realized I was going to try Mediterranean food ,  Egyptian style  for the first time, I was excited! Table for hookah .   While we ate, we watched an Egyptian movie from the early 90s(?).  Never had a dinner and a movie at a cafe before, it was nice and relaxing. Delicious hummus , it was smooth and tasted homemade :) The owner made me this huge chicken combo plate! I loooved the spices that were on the chicken.   Turkish Coffee  - This coffee is quite bold. If you want to try it and like your coffee sweeter,  just ask for more sugar! Since I still feel li...

Jean-Philippe Pâtisserie Post #2

This was my favorite leftover cake from Jean Philippe Patisserie in Aria .  This lovely cake was chocolately smooth and moist, and filled with lots of nuts.  I will never forget this cake! To see my first Jean-Philippe Patisserie post, click here .
